In early October Newcastle (Staffs) Volleyball Club was confirmed as having achieved Volley 2 accreidtation, four years after completing Volley 1. This is a significant step for the Staffordshire club as it approaches its 30th anniversary in 2010, "We knew we had the credentials in place, it was a matter of pulling it all together. We are delighted to have achieved Volley 2 in what has been a fantastic 12 months for the club both on and off the court," said club chair Colin Roberts.
And what a 12 months it has been for the club:
- 2nd place in the Volleyball England Club of the Year
- Ran a series of themed coach mentoring workshops
- Ran a scorer's workshop for over 20 club members
- Represented GB at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Beach Volleyball
- National under 16 boys Champions
- 'Club day' refurbishment of main club training venue
- 13 players represented at the UK School Games
- 4 club members as team staff/officials at the UK School Games
- Community Volleyball Coach appointed, building on extensive existing schools programme
- 3 players in the England Junior boys squad selected for NEVZA October 2009
- Senior Men's National Cup semi-finalists
